Health professionals are being encouraged to watch the new learning modules on understanding bias in health care, to be launched in November for Wiki Haumaru Tūroro | Patient Safety Week 2019.

Patient Safety Week is an awareness-raising week held from 3 to 9 November. It is coordinated by the Health Quality & Safety Commission, with partners ACC and PHARMAC.

There are three learning modules focusing on:

  • understanding and addressing implicit bias
  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi, colonisation and racism
  • experiences of bias.

The modules help health professionals to examine their own biases and how they affect the health care they provide.
