The College recognises that Fellows may wish to remain in the RNZCUC Fellowship programme, but their current working environment does not meet the clinical hours requirement of the standard recertification.

The College has four other pathways other than the main recertification programme.

  1. Alternative clinical recertification pathway – designed for those who wish to retain their FRNZCUC, but work clinically in an area of medicine for which they cannot claim their working hours as urgent care.
  2. Non-clinical recertification pathway – designed for those who wish to retain their FRNZCUC but work non-clinically.
  3. Special consideration recertification pathway – designed for those who wish to retain their FRNZCUC but do not meet the criteria for the main recertification programme, or the 2 mentioned above.  This happens, but rarely. The PSC work with you to design an acceptable recertification programme.
  4. Overseas Fellows’ pathway for those based overseas (not registered with MCNZ as practising in NZ) and who wish to retain membership and FRNZCUC.

Those Fellows who wish to retain their FRNZCUC and who provide urgent care services, outside of accredited urgent care facilities or emergency departments, may apply for consideration of their hours providing urgent care to be counted towards the recertification programme. See the clinical hours page.

Other options include placing your recertification on hold or cancelling your membership completely.
