This free webinar is being hosted by the Journal of Urgent Care Medicine and is on October 16 at 0700 NZDT

The COVID-19 RAT test gave us our first experience with a rapid viral test that we could perform within our clinics. With the availability, albeit at a cost via the pharmacy, of similar tests for RSV and influenza now is an interesting time to consider how access to these tests might change our practice in the future. Would increased availability of these diagnostics help improve antibiotic stewardship?

The webinar presenter is Patrick Dolan, MD, FAAP, FCUCM. Patrick is the Medical Director for PM Pediatrics in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and the Illinois Regional Education Lead. He was the Primary Investigator for the Urgent Care Association and Urgent Care Foundation, CDC-funded “Antibiotic Stewardship Quality Improvement Project”, where they decreased antibiotic utilisation for Viral Illness and Bronchitis in 50 sites with 150 provider participants throughout the country.

I think this will be a valuable presentation, along with the subsequent Q+A, for NZ-based UC clinicians to follow.
