About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic and join the NZ College of Urgent Care training programme. We have two RMO roles within the department, both working 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week). If you are interested in the role and completing the Urgent Care training programme, but wish to work different hours, please indicate this in your cover letter as there may be opportunity for variation.
Wellington Region RMO positions are rotational across Wellington and Hutt Valley Hospitals; however, this run will remain based at Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic throughout your training programme. This role is available for immediate start, and the NZ College of Urgent Care training programme can be started at any time (there is no cut-off date for applications).
RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or NZ Resident Doctors’ Association (NZRDA) Multi-Employer Collective Agreements. There is no requirement for junior trainees to work night shifts
About the Team
Kenepuru Accident and Medical Clinic (KAMC) is one of the only Urgent Care Clinics within Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora. We operate 24/7, 365 days per year and are the only Urgent Care clinic to do so in the Greater Wellington area.
The clinic supports the northern corridor of the Capital Coast catchment area, particularly the Porirua community. We are passionate about serving the local community, assisting with avoiding ED presentations where clinically appropriate, and providing after-hours medical care. We see over 35,000 patients per year with a wide range of ages, clinical presentations, and acuity.
KAMC is an accredited training facility for the NZ College of Urgent Care. The medical roster is a mix of SMOs, contractors, RMOs, and a collective contract with Porirua GPs. The department has grown its SMO workforce over recent years, enabling support for two trainees on the training programme.
Trainees are encouraged and supported to attend relevant conferences and courses, with leave provided for this purpose. Training costs associated with NZCUC requirements are met by the employer. We also provide in-house simulation and training, including the option for supernumerary shifts with other departments.
