AGM 2026: A Quick Update for Our Members
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2026 Annual General Meeting! As many of you know, this was a deferred meeting; we originally gathered on 24 March but didn’t quite hit the numbers needed for a quorum. We were pleased to successfully hold the meeting this week with 260 members voting via email and 161 proxy votes recorded.
It has been a massive year of “under the hood” work at the College, and we are excited to share where we are headed.
Modernising Our Governance
Following our 2024 Governance Review, we’ve been busy updating how the College is run. We have a new subcommittee structure covering finance, strategy, risk, and accreditation to make sure we are agile and modern. We’ve also updated our society rules and are currently applying for charitable status.
Big Tech News: UCCIS v2 is Here!
The cornerstone of our future operations, UCCIS version 2, launches this week. This isn’t just a small update; it’s a major investment in our infrastructure. It will streamline our office work and significantly improve how we support and engage with you. In time, this will link up with our Talent LMS learning platform for a seamless experience.
Standards and Accreditation
- Medical Council Audit: We recently had our accreditation audit. While the final report is pending, the initial feedback was very positive.
- Urgent Care Clinic Standard: A full review and rewrite is underway. We expect to have a draft ready for wider consultation with you in the first half of this year.
Finances and Fees
The College is in a stable financial position with approximately $670,000 in reserves. We ended the 2025 financial year with a much smaller trading deficit than originally budgeted.
Member Fees: It was confirmed that membership fees for 2026 will remain unchanged at $1,300 (excl. GST) for Fellows and $650 (excl. GST) for NZ-based trainees.
Celebrating 25 Years
Don’t forget that 2026 marks 25 years of Urgent Care as a vocational scope in New Zealand! We will be celebrating this milestone at the Urgent Care Bootcamp in Auckland this September. We hope to see as many of you there as possible for the festivities and the Fellowship ceremony.
Our Leadership Team
A huge congratulations to Dr Jasmine Mackay, who was appointed as our new Vice-Chair.
We also want to extend a sincere thank you to Dr Rain Lamden, whose term on the Executive Committee has come to an end. Rain has put in an incredible amount of work for the College, particularly within our education programmes, and we are very grateful for her expertise.
