We are keen to send a registrar representative to participate in the DiTC trainee forum on behalf of the College. We are looking for a volunteer – registrar or senior registrar – who is preferably based in Wellington. Note that this is on the same day as the Goodfellow Symposium and AGM, so it’s more likely going to suit someone who was not planning to come to Auckland that weekend. There’s more information below, but please inform the GM (adrian@rnzcuc.org.nz) if you are interested in attending.
The New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) will be hosting the 2019 Doctors-in-Training Council (DiTC) trainee forum on Saturday 23 March 2019 in Wellington. We would really like a trainee representative from your college to attend, as the more trainees we have, and the more Colleges are represented, the more productive the day will be.
What: DiTC Trainee Forum
Where: Wellington, venue TBC
When: 9.00am – 3.45pm (followed by drinks & nibbles), Saturday 23 March 2019.
The DiTC was established in 2002 to provide support and representation to the NZMA’s resident medical officers (RMOs), trainee interns and medical student members – the future of the medical profession. The DiTC contributes to NZMA advocacy on a wide variety of issues, particularly policies relating to training and the health workforce.
This year, the DiTC forum will include guest speakers who are pivotal in the health policy sector, and our programme will also allow for specialty trainees and prevocational trainees to come together and talk about areas of mutual interest.
Our forum provides an opportunity for you to share and discuss key policy issues that impact on trainees and will focus on solutions to these issues. To facilitate this discussion, we ask that attendees prepare a brief report on what is happening in their college and highlight what they would like to discuss at the forum. We need these reports by Monday 4 March, so they can be collated and disseminated to all trainees prior to the forum.
In addition, the DiTC invites trainee representatives to attend its council meeting, from 9.30am until lunchtime on Sunday 24 March. We hope to give all trainees an insight and understanding of the role of the DiTC in New Zealand and the issues in which it is involved.
On Saturday evening we invite your representative to join the DiTC and other forum attendees for dinner at their own expense. It will be a good opportunity to relax, network and talk about the day’s events.
We would be grateful if you could please let us know your initial interest and then confirm your representative before Friday 25 January 2019. Please email us their name, contact email address, whether they will attend the joint dinner and also whether they will attend the morning session of the DiTC meeting scheduled for the next day.
If you have any questions about the trainee forum please contact Ines McBride or call NZMA on 04 472 4741.
