National Immunisation Programme – Stakeholder hui recording and slides available

Thank you to those who attended NIP’s stakeholder hui yesterday. Amongst other updates, attendees from yesterday’s hui were fortunate to  hear from the team at Kōkiri Marae Health and Social Services about their success with their vaccination events. If you missed the hui yesterday and would like to view a recording, you can find it in our Dropbox here: Stakeholder hui 10 November 2022 along with the slides for the presentation.

We are planning to hold another hui in December, so stay tuned for the date in the next week or so.

Replacing the National Immunisation Register (NIR) with the new Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR)

The AIR will eventually replace the current NIR and supersede the COVID-19 Immunisation Register (CIR). During November Pharmacy will commence adopting the new AIR vaccinator portal, this will replace the use of Immunise Now in Pharmacy. From 9 November, General Practices are scheduled to start receiving notifications when any of their enrolled patients have received vaccinations elsewhere that have been recorded in AIR. Vaccinations recorded in AIR will not be viewable on the NIR. More information on AIR is found on this webpage here.

Shingles vaccine

Last Friday we gave you a heads up about an email mail out to communicate to people who have recently turned 65 and those that are soon to turn 66 and direct them to contact their medical practice to book or discuss the shingles vaccine the next time they visited their doctor. This is just to let you know that the email mail out was sent on Tuesday 8 November.
