A few brief updates for this newsletter.


Workplace-based Assessments:

The EDC have been working throughout this year on finalising the Workplace-based assessments, particularly the Case-based discussions, and the Research Option. The Case-based discussion forms have been finalised and are available in TalentLMS.

Case-based Discussions:

Congratulations to the trainees who have progressed from basic to advanced training phase and we thank you for your patience as the Case-based discussions have been finalised. The Cultural Safety Case-based discussion is now available on TalentLMS, linked above. As a reminder, there are two courses on TalentLMS for WBAs. The Workplace-based Orientation course must be completed by supervisors/ assessors before they can view and assess WBAs. Trainees should go through the course: Workplace-based Assessments, which contains information about the assessment process and the forms required for WBAs. Both of these courses should be completed prior to completing a WBA. Please contact tpc@rnzcuc.org.nz if you require access or have difficulty accessing the courses. 

Mini-CEX

We are also in the process of doing some minor changes to the existing Mini-CEX forms based on feedback from assessors received to date. Previously submitted mini-CEXs on the old forms will NOT be affected, nor require repeating. The new Mini-CEX forms and the remaining CbD forms and templates should be available by early September. 

Bootcamp WBA session

We are also provisionally planning a session at the Bootcamp for WBA assessors and supervisors to introduce the CbDs and the new Mini-CEX forms, as well as to collect feedback about how the WBAs are going.


Education Committee Members Wanted:

As also mentioned in a previous College email, the Education Committee is seeking new members. If you are interested, please send an expression of interest with a CV and brief cover letter to education@rnzcuc.org.nz. Applications close 14 August 2026 and applicants will be informed of the outcome by end of August or early September.
