Kia ora koutou,

It is my pleasure to produce this month’s DCT newsletter.

Core skills list – eye examination

It has been noted that there is another new core skill called eye examination. As we did not notify registrars of the change there is a new deadline for completing this skill.

Registrars on the 2024 training programme do not have to complete this skill if they have completed all skills prior to 31/7/25. Any registrar who has not completed the other skills by then will have to also complete to core skill eye examination.

Can I convert from the ‘old’ training programme to the new one?

Registrars on the pre-2025 training programme cannot move to the new training programme. Should you wish to complete some of the new training programme requirements (eg WBA), they will count towards your ongoing CPD.

Who can be the assessor for workplace based assessments?

Mini CEX and DOPS can be performed by a FRNZCUC who has completed the WBA training (available in TalentLMS) or a FACEM who has completed ACEM WBA training. They do not have to be performed by your named supervisor.

SDAW

The skills demonstration and assessment weekend (SDAW) will be coming up on 16 and 17 of August please be aware of this and put it on your own calendars if you are intending to attend. More information we be available soon.

The registrar sub committee has members approaching fellowship. If you are interested in joining this motivated group email regsc@rnzcuc.org.nz

Pre -Exit SAF- Reminder from last 3 newsletters
Any registrar who has not completed the leadership module should have the pre-exit SAF completed prior to completion of the training programme. The form is available from Alex.

This stipulation is for only the 6 month period after the leadership module is available, after which the module is a compulsory requirement. Any registrar completing the leadership module in the next six months would NOT be required to also complete the pre-exit SAF.
