This month, I have the following important information covering:
- MCNZ accreditation result/report/actions
- Distinguished Fellow nominations – update
- UCCIS version 2
- TalentLMS and wider IS strategy
MCNZ Accreditation
The College received its accreditation report from MCNZ. We have been accredited as an education provider for six years (the maximum possible, we believe) and have only six required actions to complete. This is an excellent result and reflects the significant amount of work completed by our previous Accreditation Working Group (now the Accreditation Committee) over the last few years.
Distinguished Fellow Nominations
I am pleased to advise that we have several submissions nominating Fellows for the Distinguished Fellow award. I’m gathering the relevant details, cognisant that there is a lot asked of the nominator. I’ll be passing the nominations information to the Board of Censors on 22 June. You can access the nomination form and policy in the Distinguished Fellow policy document. If you are currently considering nominating a colleague, send me a quick email to let me know that your submission is on its way. I will send back the word version of the policy to make it easier to complete.
UCCIS
Ensure that you load activities ONLY in UCCISv2.
We previously advised everyone not to load activities into UCCISv1 after 27 March. Items loaded into v1 after this date are not automatically synchronised and will not appear in v2. You will need to re-enter activities loaded into UCCISv1 after 27 March into UCCISv2 yourself.
Synergia are finalising the peer group functionality, the custom requirement function, and additional administrative tools for the office team. We will ‘bed down’ this version during 2026 but are already planning upgrades for 2027.
It is imperative that you record your workplaces correctly under the ‘Employment and Education’ tab in your profile. Your urgent care clinic or approved training facility must be selected from the established drop-down list under ‘Urgent Care Workplace’. If you manually type a clinic into the ‘Other Urgent Care Workplace’ field, you will still be able to log your hours, but those hours will not count towards your programme requirements.
Ideally, you would also identify which one is your primary workplace (you ‘star’ it in UCCIS). The data acts as a proxy for the College to map the geographic distribution of Urgent Care Fellows and trainees across the country. More practically, when we look for suitable supervisors for future trainees, we review facility records; if you have not recorded that you work at a specific clinic, we may not be aware that you are available there to supervise.
For trainees, the primary workplace must be the location where they receive their supervision. For Fellows, if you practice at more than one urgent care workplace, please nominate the clinic where you work the most hours as your priority workplace. If your time is split exactly 50/50, please simply choose the facility you prefer to designate as your priority.
TalentLMS, website, and wider information systems strategy
I am pleased to share the news that all website learning resources are now in TalentLMS. The next step in my information systems strategy is to revamp the RNZCUC website to reflect all the recent significant changes. My aim is to launch the ‘new’ website in time for Bootcamp.
As mentioned, there will be no further significant changes to UCCIS this year other than finalising the peer group functionality, the custom requirement function, and additional administrative tools for the office team. The wider information systems strategy includes a final ‘significant’ upgrade, which is to link TalentLMS to UCCIS. This will mean that completion of learning activities are automatically recorded in your UCCIS CPD record/TPS. Another IS strategic objective is to set up the data requirements to allow us to monitor and evaluate all aspects of the training and recertification programmes, and much of the data sources will be provided by TalentLMS and UCCIS.
