Those of you who attended the Goodfellow Symposium 2024 may have seen a talk within the urgent care stream given by a Critical Care Paramedic on the topic of C-Spine management in the community. It focused on how St.John approaches transporting patients with C-Spine injuries, particularly those from urgent care clinics.
It generated some good discussion and there was a question about assessment of C-Spines in the urgent care setting.
As time was tight, we suggested posting the Bootcamp presentation by Dr Paul Martin from the 2022 Bootcamp in Christchurch. In this 15-minute talk, Paul covers the evidence behind the decision support tools and the various modes of imaging as well as looking at the role of C-Spine immobilisation. This last part intersects nicely with the Goodfellow talk.
