Save the Date: Celebrating 25 Years of Urgent Care in Auckland!

We are thrilled to share the first wave of updates for the 2026 Boot Camp and Fellowship Ceremony. This isn’t just another annual gathering; 2026 marks the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the vocational scope of urgent care, and we are planning an event to match the milestone.

The Venue: A Space for Everyone

Subject to final contracts, we will be heading to the Novotel Ellerslie in Auckland.

One of the highlights of this venue is the flexibility it offers. With two tiers of quality accommodation—the Novotel and the Ibis—on-site, you can choose the stay that best fits your preference while remaining right in the heart of the action. It’s also very close to the motorway and highly accessible to those travelling in from the south of Auckland and the airport.

The Weekend Schedule

Mark your calendars for September 18th – 20th, 2026. We have a packed itinerary designed to balance professional development with community celebration.

Friday, Sep 18: Research & Training
  • Research Network Meeting: A full-day deep dive into the latest findings within our field, involving members of the research network as well as external speakers, presenting, discussing, and planning urgent care research ideas.
  • Clinical Training: We are currently working to confirm specialised sessions, potentially including resuscitation and POCUS training.
  • Friday Social: We’re planning an informal evening get-together at the hotel—stay tuned for details!
Saturday, Sep 19: The Boot Camp & Ceremony
  • The Boot Camp: Our signature fast-paced sessions. We’ll feature groups of four speakers followed by interactive Q&A.
  • Garden Games: Expect some “fun and games” in the garden during our breakout sessions to keep the energy high.
  • Fellowship Ceremony: A prestigious event where we will honor those who have achieved Fellowship over the last two years and celebrate 25 years of our scope. Families and children are more than welcome to attend the ceremony, and a professional photographer will be on hand for family portraits.
  • Gala Dinner: Following the ceremony, we’ll move into the formal dinner featuring live entertainment, a DJ, and a dance floor. (Please note: The dinner is an adults-only affair).
  • We intend to invite the AMPA founding members to the ceremony and dinner. We hope too to be awarding our first batch of Distinguished Fellow awards, something requested by members and we are pleased to be finalising the processes to acheive this.
Sunday, Sep 20: Clinical Insights
  • Breakfast Session: Start the day with a hosted breakfast (tbc).
  • Specialist Speakers: High-level clinical talks through the morning and early afternoon.
  • Early Finish: We aim to wrap up by 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM to ensure everyone has ample time to reach the airport for their flights home.

Call for Speakers

Are you interested in sharing your expertise? We are officially on the lookout for speakers from within the College:

  • Friday Research Meeting: Seeking expressions of interest from anyone wishing to share an in-depth presentation on proposed, ongoing or completed research.
  • Saturday Boot Camp: Seeking “short and sharp” 15-minute presentations that get straight to the point.

Email the DPD (dpd@rnzcuc.org.nz) to register your interest in presenting.

We look forward to seeing you in Auckland for this historic anniversary! We will continue to provide updates as our plans are confirmed.
