Tēnā koutou,

We hope you all enjoyed the Bootcamp for those who attended and it was good to catch up with those I saw there. A few updates from the Education Committee below.

New EDC members

We would like to welcome two new members to the EDC: Dr Carmen Chan and Dr Stephen Adams. Both doctors will be an excellent addition, particularly with Dr Chan’s experience as the previous registrar subcommittee convenor and Dr Adams extensive clinical, teaching and governance experience with his long-standing and various roles with the College. Thank you to all those who applied and we would encourage you to consider re-applying if vacancies do arise in future.

Workplace-based assessments

As those of you who attended my talk at the Bootcamp know, the EDC have been working hard to finalize the remaining WBAs, namely the Case-based discussions. These have all been published and are now available on through the Workplace-Based Assessments course TalentLMS. The Mini-CEX form is also in the process of being revised and the updated Mini-CEX forms should be published in the coming weeks. Please continue to do any Mini-CEX’s you have planned in the meantime on the old form. Finally, all Fellows acting as assessors for WBAs for trainees must have completed the Workplace-Based Assessment Orientation course on TalentLMS, which includes a final quiz as evidence of completion. If you do not have access, please contact the College as soon as possible.

Urgent Care Course

Please note that the online Urgent Care Course will not undergo any editing until after UCPEX and OSCE is completed, even if feedback is received regarding content that could be improved or updated. The only exceptions will be significant errors that have implications for unsafe clinical practice. For trainees currently studying for UCPEX and OSCE, as a reminder there is a course on TalentLMS “Urgent Care Course Corrections” which has a chronological list of all the updates to the UCC. We would recommend that all trainees regularly check this list to ensure that any content you have previously studied has not undergone any subsequent updates or edits as the most up to date version of the UCC will be examinable.

Good luck to the trainees sitting UCPEX and OSCE!

Ngā mihi nui,

Adrianne Pimentel – Convener of the Education Committee
