Kia ora koutou,

It is my pleasure to produce this month’s DCT newsletter. Please review my post from May 2025, which contains very important information for trainees.

UCCIS – workplace

We often notice missing information in UCCIS. Trainees must enter their workplace into UCCIS so that we can track the proper allocation of clinical hours that lead towards Fellowship. Please ensure that you are doing this.

Supervision Appraisal Forms

Early reports from our new, and ongoing, supervisor form checking process have indicated that many trainees are either not loading their supervision appraisal forms on time, and/or are not entering the hours spent with their supervisor. We will be continuously checking these items and repeat offenders may find that they are deemed to be “poor progress” trainee and come under additional scrutiny of the Education Committee.

  • Junior registrars, those in the basic phase of training, and anyone on the Accelerated Pathway to Fellowship must complete a supervision appraisal once every three months.
  • Senior registrars must complete a supervision appraisal once every four months.

In all cases the supervision appraisal form must be completed fully and loaded into your UCCIS TPS.

Original research

The ability to submit an MLP as part your training programme requirements ends on 30 June. Trainees instead complete a university paper in research methods or conducting original research. The detailed requirements or considerations for the latter are being finalised and will be shared once they have been completed by the Education Committee.
