Kia ora koutou,

It is my pleasure to produce this month’s DCT newsletter. This newsletter contains a lot of important information for registrars.

Pre -Exit SAF
Until the leadership module has been finalised and completed all registrars and supervisors will need to complete a new pre exit SAF. This applies when they have or are near completed all the elements of training and signifies that they are ready for fellowship. These forms are available from Alex and needs to be signed as usual by the supervisor and senior registrar. There will be 6 month grace period where the Pre Exit SAF will be used until the leadership module becomes compulsory.

Supervisor appraisal forms
Please ensure that you upload them into UCCIS as soon as you have completed your meeting with your supervisor. Also, please ensure that the field indicating the average number of hours you worked at the same time as your supervisor also needs to be completed.

Training programme 2025
As you may be aware there are changes for registrars starting after 1 January 2025. You will be completing work based assessments and transitioning through the stages of training. For registrars on the prior training programme there are no work based assessments and the case reviews continue to be a requirement.

MLP and research methods
The deadline has passed for submitting an outline for the MLP. Thus if you have not had your outline accepted before this deadline you will not be able to complete this and must follow the directions on our web pages. Research Methods in Health – Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care

If you were given permission to continue your final version must be submitted and assessed by June 2025.

University courses
It appears that some of you may have been given some misleading information with regard to POPHLTH 701. This paper is an online paper and can be done remotely. There is no requirement to attend lectures in person.

Registrar sub committee
It has come to our attention that there are still some registrars not aware of the registrar sub committee.   Email: regsc@rnzcuc.org.nz or subcommittee members generally reach out semi-regularly on FB page or via monthly College newsletter email.

Core skills list update
There are changes to the core skills list. There are two new core skills and some of the current ones have been refined.

If a registrar has completed and loaded into UCCIS all current core skills by 31 January 2025 there are no additional requirements.

Registrars who have not completed and loaded into UCCIS all current core skills by 31 January 2025 will be required to also complete the two new skills (Pulled elbow and Doppler Ultrasound for foetal heartbeat).

Registrars who have completed and loaded into UCCIS any core skills that have been refined will not be required to complete that core skill again.

Any core skills not completed and loaded into UCCIS will need to be the new versions. If you have downloaded any templates delete them and download the new version. Important – we will advise when the new templates have been put into the core skills page.

Urgent care course updates
We are in the process of moving the urgent care course from the Goodfellow Unit website to our own learning management system.  We anticipate that the material will be available for viewing in February 2025, and will advise all members and Educational subscription holders when it becomes available. There may be a period of time when it is unavailable. The module Red Rash Made easy is from the goodfellow unit themselves and so to continue to view this you will need to either create a goodfellow account or continue your existing account.

Research Network
A reminder that the new research network is progressing. Urgent Care Research Network – Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care if you have an interest contact the network via this page.

Goodfellow Symposium 2025
A reminder that the annual symposium is from March 21 Friday for workshops and then mainly on 22 Saturday and 23 Sunday. There is an RNZCUC stream and find out more here. Symposium | Goodfellow Unit If you are attending I may see you there come and say hello to the office team if you get a chance.

New Registrar Webinar
The date for the orientation webinar has been set as 4 April, Friday at 10am. You should have or will be made aware if you are required to attend. It will be via ZOOM.

Ngā mihi
