We are thrilled to be heading to the South Island and the beautiful city of Ōtautahi, Christchurch for the 2021 Bootcamp on the weekend of 17/18/19 September. This is our second in-person Bootcamp and we’ll have a similar fast-paced energetic programme, though this time we are allowing a little more time for each speaker.
The Bootcamp weekend will span three days, including activities on Friday afternoon and evening, the Bootcamp proper on Saturday, the Fellowship dinner on Saturday evening, and expert panel discussions on Sunday morning. The Saturday and Sunday activities are in the Rydges Hotel, Latimer Square, and the Friday activities nearby.
We’ve invited several VIP and are pleased to announce that several have already replied to say they can attend. We are pleased to say that Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director-General of Health and Dr Anna Clark, Deputy Director-General Health Workforce, and others have indicated that they can attend for the weekend.
Friday 17 September
On Friday, you will have the opportunity to attend a pre-Bootcamp workshop in POCUS or an ACLS refresher. On Friday evening, there will be a charity social event, raising money for the local Air Ambulance. It will be an opportunity to mingle with acute care clinicians from all over South Island.
Saturday 18 September
The Saturday programme (Bootcamp proper) is taking shape. Starting at 8am, we will have four sessions each of 2 hours. Each session includes four presentations each of 15 minutes, followed by group discussion and time for questions and answers. There’ll be ample time to mix, mingle, and discuss the potentially practice-changing information being shared.
Saturday evening
The Fellowship dinner is taking place on Saturday evening. Here’s your opportunity to get out your ‘glad rags’ – this will be a black-tie three-course dinner with pre-dinner canapes and post-dinner entertainment. After the dinner, we will present certificates to those who have achieved Fellowship in the last two years. We have asked several VIP to present some of the certificates and congratulate the new Fellows.
Sunday 19
On Sunday, we will have a morning of moderated panel discussions in which we will be tackling topics important to urgent care practice. Speakers will include specialists from across various fields and our invited VIP. This will be a great opportunity for us to put urgent care front and centre.
Tickets
We are finalising the web portal for Bootcamp tickets and hope to have them on sale very soon. Fellows who have graduated in the last two years are invited to the dinner for free, but will still need to book tickets for the Bootcamp itself and let us know they wish to attend the dinner.
