Venue: The Simulation Centre for Patient Safety (SCPS) is located at the University of Auckland – Grafton Campus, 85 Park Road, Grafton, Auckland 1023 (across Auckland Hospital). Please find your way through Building 502, Level B (Basement).
Introduction:
The PALS course is run by the Simulation Centre for Patient Safety (SCPS) for the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care (RNZCUC).
The workshop is intended to provide training for healthcare professionals to develop knowledge and skills required to deliver appropriate emergency care for paediatric patients. Assessment will be based on completion of the skills training and successful participation in the scenarios. A certificate will be issued after the workshop which is valid for two years.

All pre-course readings will be accessed on the course website. We recommend going over the lecture notes prior to attending. Login details will be emailed to you 4-5 weeks before the course date.

You may complete online self-assessment quizzes (MCQ and ECG) and Clinical Practice Cases. It may be worth doing these quizzes and will not form part of the assessment.
Course Schedule
Please be at the course location from 7:45 am for registration. Both course days will commence exactly at 8:00 am and will finish at 6:00 pm (Day 1) and 5:30 pm (Day 2). If there any delays, you may contact the Course Convenor, Jo Egan 027 636 6816
Student Manual
A student manual named European Paediatric Advanced Life Support will be posted to you 4-5 weeks before the course starts to the address you provided during registration.
Catering
Catering will be provided during the course days (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea). Please ensure to inform your dietary requirements during registration.

Please note you will not receive course certification unless you attend the whole day: from 0800 to 1730 unless the course finishes earlier. A timetable is included in the pre-reading.

Please note that the College has a cancellation policy. If you find that you are suddenly unable to attend you must let us know immediately.
