Farewell to our Director of Professional Development

Dr Afraz Adam has decided to move on to other things early in the new year. He’s been a whirlwind in the office and has taken the lead in promoting urgent care. The big story of the year was the Urgent Care Boot Camp, and Afraz put in a massive amount of work in preparing that major event. He’s taken the lead in reviewing the recertification programme, and we’ll soon be looking for someone to follow in his footsteps.

We’ll advertise the new position early in the new year. We don’t have an updated job description, but feel free to pass expressions of interest to the General Manger (adrian@rnzcuc.org.nz).

Message from the Director of Professional Development

Dear Colleagues,
It is overwhelming saying goodbye to a role I have loved and cherished for the past eighteen months. As the first DPD for our College, it has been an honour watching the role evolve. I am sincerely grateful for the privilege of working with you all. This team has become my family. I have spent this time working with people spectacularly talented and unstoppably optimistic. I thank David and our Executive Committee for encouraging me through my successes and supporting me during times of failure. I considered myself lucky to be able to work alongside Adrian, who goes above and beyond his role as a GM, to support its staff and members. These people and you all, our Fellows and registrars, inspired me every day and made my role exciting and fulfilling. You have all helped me develop personally and professionally. It is time for me to move on and explore other avenues, but my passion for urgent care remains unfaltering, and I will continue to support the College in all its future endeavours. I wish you all a bigger and better 2020.
Afraz
