College news

Quick note from the General Manager

Apologies for the rather sparse, image free, newsletter this week. It takes a bit more time to add these in, and with Hadi gone, I don't have all the skills to put them in and make them look nice! Our new IT person will be in post next week, hopefully, followed by a new College Administrator in two more weeks. Once they're trained, we'll have more resources to provide the excellent service I aspire to provide members.
In the meantime, we're short-staffed and I'm wearing multiple hats. We have the branch accreditation visits next week. The office team's replies to emails and requests will be slower than normal.

Recertification, annual requirements, keeping us updated

This is a gentle reminder that it's your responsibility to keep us informed of changes of workplaces, supervisors, and contact details. We've had a few instances where we can't reach doctors who appear to have forgotten about their annual requirements.
On rollover (at the same time as PC renewal), we check your ePortfolio and let you know if we think you're behind. MCNZ have recently asked us to let them know when doctors are behind, and we've agreed that this should happen three months after rollover when a doctor hasn't caught up or doesn't have a plan to.

Registrar preparation for UCPEX

One of our registrars, Dr Crispian Wilson, is offering to form a study group to help with UCPEX preparation. Please contact him for further details.

"In preparation for UCPEX this November I will be organising a fortnightly study group covering key topics likely to come up in the written paper and OSCE, with a planned practice OSCE at a later date. The current plan is to hold study sessions in central Auckland with an option for attendance via Zoom, with presentations on topics delivered by group members on a rotating basis. If you would be interested in joining this group and/or attending the practice OSCE, drop me an email at crispian.e.wilson@gmail.com."

POCUS position statement

We've finalised the College's position statement on POCUS. Please review it and provide feedback via the General Manager (adrian@rnzcuc.org.nz). The College is continuining to develop resources in this area and will be able to share them during the year.
