Urgent Care Virtual Bootcamp 2020

The virtual Bootcamp 2020 took place on the weekend of the 18/19th September. It was a great success, averaging over 100 people viewing throughout the weekend. A huge thank you to the presenters who joined us from all around the world and provided outstanding urgent care relevant content and discussion. The videos will be on the website soon for all ticket holders who could not join us live or missed the occasional talk. Plans are underway for next years Bootcamp, a physical event if the world situation allows. Standby for details on the venue, city and dates in the coming months.

Nurse practitioners in urgent care

The College is looking at how we can best support Nurse Practitioners working in urgent care clinics. As an initial step we’d like to find out how many NP are working in urgent care and develop a mailing list. This is being coordinated by an NP who is also on the NPNZ executive committee. If you have NP in your clinic, please ask them to let Amanda know the following details:

Please send to Amanda Hume - mandyhume@hotmail.com, cell: 021 119 6305

Urgent care registrar wins Rotorua Marathon

Congratulations to Dr Alice Mason, who won the Rotorua Marathon last weekend. As a three-time New Zealand marathon champion, Alice had been hoping 2020 would have been about competing in Tokyo at the Olympics. But with COVID-19 stopping all overseas competitions, Alice has spent 2020 training in Urgent Care while keeping her sights set on Japan next year. Winning a hat-trick of Rotorua Marathons this weekend shows she has been able to maintain her form despite a global pandemic, so we all hope that she has the chance to chase her Olympic dream next year.

If you have any recent achievements please share it with us so we can include it in our newsletter.

Survey of health professionals’ views on referenda issues

We’ve been asked by one of our senior registrars (Aakash Chhibber) to disseminate this survey which asks for your views on the referenda issues. There has been considerable media coverage about these; however, there is little data to support the views of health professionals. This survey will help inform the public how we see these very important issues.

Guide to peer groups

Remember that we have information on peer groups on the website. This includes a list of peer groups, how to list your group, examples of peer group activities, and a useful template for minutes. Although recertification activities are one pause, we strongly recommend keeping up with peer group activities which can be completed using Zoom or similar.
