Urgent care centres are on the rise, driven by demographics and insurance

An article in the prestigious Wall Street Journal estimates that there could be as many as 10,000 urgent care centres in the United States at this stage, and predicts even more growth.

One of the reasons it gives for this increase, is the ageing population - especially active people who are over 50 and want convenient medical care at a time and place that suits them. It also notes the role of hospitals and traditional medical providers in this growth.

Well worth a short read.
