An introduction to Point of Care Ultrasound for Urgent Care practitioners.

Shorecare in association with UIE and Sonosite is proud to announce the first Urgent Care Point of Care Ultrasound workshop!  This is a comprehensive two-day ultrasound workshop designed for the beginner-to-intermediate student-sonologist, practitioners who would like to refresh their skills and anyone interested in improving their scanning techniques. The workshop covers basic machine use, AAA, Gallbladder, Renal, Cardiac Views, and DVT scanning, and is endorsed by the RNZCUC for up to 12 CME points.

Point of care ultrasound can be useful in the assessment of many different urgent care presentations – for example ?pneumonia/pneumothorax, acute abdominal pain (?gall stones/AAA/free fluid/intrauterine pregnancy), DVT workup, soft tissue infections (?cellulitis vs abscess), musculoskeletal injuries (?foreign body ?fracture ?tendon rupture) plus many more applications. POCUS can also assist with procedures such as IV cannulation, I&D of abscesses, and nerve blocks.
