AGM 2024 and Goodfellow Symposium

The Executive Committee has decided that we should return to the in-person AGM format that we ran successfully prior to COVID. We will be holding the 2024 AGM at 6pm on Saturday 23 March 2024 at the Due Drop Events Centre. It will be transmitted via zoom for those who cannot join us in person.
Now is a great moment to add the date to your calendar for 2024. We look forward to meeting you at the Goodfellow Symposium (we will have an urgent care ‘lounge’ area), and the AGM on the Saturday night.

College news

Sarah Clarke standing down from Executive Committee

The College would like to pass on its thanks and congratulations to Sarah Clarke, who is resigning her position on the Executive Commitee as she has a new role which would cause conflicts of interest.
Sarah says, "it has been a great privilege working with you and the rest of the executive team. It always amazes me how much work gets done by so few people"!
We wish you well in your new role, Sarah, and thank you for your work on the committee.

Clinical Leadership Survey

If you are a medical or clinical director in urgent care (or associate director) or have been one in the past or have been recently offered a leadership position, please take a moment to complete the survey by answering the following questions. It should take about 10 minutes to complete the survey.
The results will provide insight into the leadership opinions and experience of clinical leaders in urgent care. The tabulated results will be used in developing leadership education for the RNZCUC. Your answers are anonymous and the results will be made non-identifiable. Thank you for your time.

Registrar annual membership/training programme fee

This is a reminder to all registrars who receive health workforce funding that the funds are used to cover training programme courses, events, and other items such as marking of papers. It does not automatically cover the College membership/programme administration fee. It has always been so. See the Funding Opportunities section on this page of the website.

As we look to 2024 and our contract with health workforce, please note that there is the possibility that the College will charge an annual fee even to those funded by health workforce.

Research grant reminder

The College sets aside $10,000 each year to support research (or research-like projects) in urgent care. The College shares this between doctors whose research/project has been recognised as supporting the College’s strategic objectives or advances urgent care in some way.

Nurse practitioner discussion document consultation

The College has developed a discussion document on the employment, training, and potential for Nurse Practitioners in Urgent Care Clinic settings.
The catalyst for this document was multiple requests by NP for access to the urgent care training programme for doctors with a subsequent award of Fellowship by the College. The College’s position is that NP training is best vested in an NP training body, and the award of any appropriate qualification similarly so.
Please provide any comments to the general manager (adrian@rnzcuc.org.nz) by 29 September.
